From beginner griller to pit master, our 2023 Gift Guide for Grillers has the perfect gift for the grill master on your holiday shopping list! We’ve rounded up our favorite grilling tool and accessories, from the practical to the whimsical.
Whether you’re browsing for a stocking stuffer, gifting a replacement tool, or even looking to gift a new grill, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect gift at any budget.
We. Love. Grilling. As long as the temperature is hovering somewhere above freezing, our grills are in use pretty much year-round. There’s no better way to cook corn or prepare the perfect steak, but we also regularly use our grills for cooking pizza (it’s divine), tacos, chicken wings, and more.
Yes, we said grills. We currently own the Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill ($219) and a compact two-burner Char-Broil Propane Grill ($300). We love each for different reasons, and they’ve really gotten a workout over the last 5-10 years.
In our 2023 Gift Guide for Grillers, we’re sharing all of the tools and accessories that make grilling great food easier, tastier, or both!

Safety First!
A Great Digital Thermometer: I’m a big, big fan of digital thermometers. This is no better way to test for a perfect medium rare steak, ensure that chicken is cooked to temperature, and nail the perfect internal temperature of a baked potato. A high quality instant read thermometer is a must. We love our OXO Thermocouple Thermometer ($60). For gadget geeks, the Meater Plus ($100) is a long range, wireless digital probe thermometer that connects via bluetooth to your smartphone; there’s no need to constantly check the thermometer, as the app will tell you once the probe has reached the proper temp. Definitely a game-changer for meats with an extended grill time!
Weber Premium Grill Gloves ($45): look y’all, “safety first” is often touted on this blog, and I mean it! These gloves are lightweight and flexible, which makes wearing them while grilling a breeze.
Cuisinart Ultimate Backyard BBQ Tool Set ($41): grilling tools and kitchen tools aren’t necessarily interchangeable. For the beginner griller, gifting a set of grill-specific tools will make their grilling adventures both easier, and safer. We love that each tool is stainless steel from end to end and that set comes with a case for easy storage, away from the elements.
Bristle-free Grill Cleaning Brush ($40): there are so many alternatives to grill cleaning brushes with wires or bristles; over time, they can and will break down, and you run the risk of leaving a bit of the bristle on your grill grates, which can get stuck to food. Danger zone! No one wants to eat a piece of wire. This brush is dishwasher safe (hello!) and was created by a fireman for ultimate safety.
First Alert Home Fire Extinguisher ($22): no explanation needed! We have fire extinguishers located in close proximity to both our stove and grill.
Practical Purchases (Under $25)
Meat Claws ($10): if you’ve got a big griller who grills or smokes big cuts, these meat claws are a must! They can easily pick up a whole turkey, chicken, rack of ribs, or brisket, hot from the grill. They also make shredding a breeze. These are multipurpose must for grillers!
GIR Silicone Basting Brush ($10): colorful, functional, and incredibly well-made, GIR basting brushes are perfect for grillers who love to get saucy. This is a small splurge that’s great for stockings!
Propane Tank Gas Level Monitor ($25): there’s nothing worse than firing up the grill and realized you’re out of gas. Womp, womp. Gift a set of these gas gauges and your griller will never unexpectedly run out of propane. Great for practical gifters or as a stocking stuffer!
Cast Iron Grill Press ($22): for everything from smash burgers and steaks to chicken breasts and grilled veggies, a grill press is a handy tool to ensure even grilling and prevent curling.
Yeti Colster Can Insulator ($25): if your griller enjoys a cold while while tending the hot coals, gift this can insulator from Yeti. It fits a 12-ounce can snugly and will keep it cool for hours. If your beer drink is actually a hard seltzer drinker, check out the Yeti Colster Slim Can Insulator ($25). Bonus? Both insulators come in a variety of colors, so it’s the perfect gift for everyone!
Flavor Made Easy
Cedar Grilling Planks ($19): sustainably sourced and made from western red cedar, these grilling planks are guaranteed to take grilled fish to the next level. With an affordable price, they’re the perfect small gift or add-on for anyone who loves fish and loves to grill.
Make Smoking Easy: there’s no need to invest in a smoker if the griller in your life is merely interested, and not invested. Convert any gas or charcoal grill into a smoker with the Weber Stainless Steel Smoker Box ($34) or The Smokist Stainless Steel Smoking Pouch ($25). Include a bag or two of quality wood chunks ($8) and you’ve gifted a “smoker” for a fraction of the price!
Jealous Devil All Natural Hardwood Lump Charcoal ($40): crafted to maximize both flavor and an efficient burn, this the fanciest, best quality charcoal you can buy for home grilling. If you’ve got a “naughty” griller on your list, this is the perfect blend of kitsch and quality!
Weber Deluxe Grilling Basket ($31): a basket is just the ticket for grilling vegetables or delicate proteins like shrimp. Sure, skewers are great, but for simple grilled sides like asparagus or broccoli, a basket is a time and sanity saver.
Great BBQ Sauces: I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen Japanese BBQ sauce variety packs ($44) out in the wild. And as a long-time DC area resident, it’d be criminal if I didn’t recommend our homegrown Capital City Mambo Sauce ($17).
Borsari Seasoned Salt ($9): seasoned salts are a great way to add complex flavors without whipping up your own blends. We use seasoned salt for seasoning potatoes and vegetables prior to cooking, or as a finishing salt on a grilled steak.
Hans Grill Pizza Stone ($45): there is nothing quite like wood fired pizza, and you can create a similar style pizza at home on the grill! This pizza stone is substantial and will stand the test of time.
Grilling Cookbooks: give your grill master the gift of knowledge! We love these grilling cookbooks for everything from the basics to advanced techniques – Michael Symon’s Playing with Fire ($16), Matt Moore’s Serial Griller: Grillmaster Secrets for Flame-Cooked Perfection ($15), Rodney Scott’s World of BBQ ($21); and Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling ($19).
For the Serious Grill Master
Blackstone Flat Top Grill ($262): a flat top grill is essentially a large, outdoor griddle, and it’s so versatile – think hibachi, pancakes, bacon and eggs, and so much more. My brother swears by smash burgers made on his Blackstone. For a smaller investment, consider the Blackstone Flat Top Grill Station ($110).
John Boos Maple Wood Cutting Board ($130): we absolutely love our Boos block! It’s incredibly sturdy, and we appreciate that it’s American-sourced and made. With grooves to collect juices and handles for easy transport, it’s a truly perfect cutting board that can handle big jobs.
Wusthof Classic Carving Set ($176): don’t let your big griller down in their big moment! A gorgeous grilled turkey or brisket needs to be sliced with care. We’re Wusthof devotees, and this carving knife and fork are culinary perfection. For quality budget buys, consider the Mercer 10″ Carving Knife ($50) or Messermeister 12” Round-Tip Knife ($45).
