Affordable Pops of Color (Under $25)
Colorful Glassware: nothing jazzes up a dinner table or open shelving like colorful glassware. They’re joyful to look at, joyful to use, and joyful to store. check out these JoyJolt 6-piece Stemless Wine Classes ($23) or or this set of 4 Hobnail Drinking Glasses ($19).
Rainbow Cutting Board Set ($13): this set of plastic cutting boards is both colorful and practical. Each color represents a certain food item that’s meant to be prepped on each board. While you don’t have abide by the color coded suggestions, it does make it useful to track which cutting board you use for raw meat versus vegetables.
Colorful Ceramic Pinch Bowls ($24): we constantly use small pinch bowls for sauces, dips, and pre-portioning seasonings. These colorful pinch bowls from Now Designs offer several options in a variety of color combinations.
Cuisinart 12-Piece Advantage Color Collection Knife Set ($23): colored knives get a bad rap, mostly because they became popular via some not-to-be-name bulk stores. Yes, they were flashy, no they didn’t last. But Cuisinart has come to the rescue with this gorgeous rainbow hued collection that delivers on both price and quality.
Ceramic Spoon Rest ($6): a colorful kitchen doesn’t need to mean an untidy one! Spoon rests keep counters clean from drips, but they’re also a fun way to bring personality into a kitchen. Small and budget-friendly, a colorful spoon rest is a great stocking stuffer or small token.
Swedish Dishcloths ($18): these dishcloths aren’t just patterned and pretty, they’re eco-friendly too! We’ve turned to Swedish dishcloths to replace the majority of our paper towel usage. They’re incredibly absorbent, and can be popped right into the dishwasher for cleaning. The whimsical patterns are a fun, affordable, and practical gift or stocking stuffer.
Mid-Range Gifts with Personality (Under $50)
KitchenAid Mixing Bowls ($30): while KitchenAid is know for their red, the aqua and pistachio color schemes of these mixing bowls scream “happy” to me! They definitely want to make me roll up my sleeves and cook something delicious.
French Flax Linen napkins ($35): there’s really so such thing as too many lovely linen napkins for setting a variety of dinner tables with modern touches. We love the feel of flax linen, and it washes beautifully. These come in a range of vibrant colors.
Colorful Kitchen Towels: we can say with some authority that there is no such thing as too many kitchen towels, and a beautifully printed towel can really elevate mundane tasks (like clean-up). We love these colorful patterned towels from Marimekko ($23), Rifle ($21), and Caraway ($41).
Silicone Spatulas: rubber spatulas are a great way to bring color into your kitchen. The brand GIR stands for “get it right” and boy do they! Consider this GIR 3-piece set ($28) or 5-piece set ($51).
Cook In Color
Skillets: When it comes to quality, yet affordable, cookware that also offers are variety of color options, I have a few go-to brands. We love this Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Skillet ($80), offered in 6 beautiful colors, as well as the Our Place Always Pan ($99).
Saucepans: Caraway has made a name for themselves not only for quality, but for their bold color offerings. Pretty much every piece is a timeless investment, though their Non-stick Ceramic Sauce Pan ($103) in marigold is a favorite.
Dutch Ovens: the enameled dutch oven is both a classic and a must-have in any kitchen – it’s a beautiful piece to display on a stovetop, but also incredibly versatile. Luckily, the brands who are serious about quality are also serious about color! The affordable Lodge 6-quart Dutch Oven ($80) is offered in 18(!) colors (we own three of them). For investment pieces that will last a lifetime, consider the Le Creuset Signature 5.5-quart Dutch Oven ($420) or Staub’s 5.5-quart Round Cocotte ($357).
GreenPan Ceramic 10-piece Cookware Set ($300): we’ve owned several GreenPan skillets and saucepans and they’re terrific pieces for the home cook on a budget. Ceramic cookware is truly non-stick, and GreenPan now offers their classic set in eight stunning hues. Neither high-end nor cheap, this starter set is the perfect investment for a home cook who’s setting up their first kitchen.
Le Creuset Stoneware Baking Dish ($100): Le Creuset has been rocking the color game for decades. Any number of their pieces are worth the investment, but for our dollars, you can’t beat this baking dish. It comes with a lid that doubles as a serving platter – we love a two-for!
