The first time I had a sip of tea I was about 5. From an early age, my mom would prepare “milk tea” for us kiddos – it was a glass of warm milk with two tablespoons of her strong black tea and a bit of sugar. It felt like such a treat and we felt like we were sharing in mom’s morning ritual.
Years later, I became a barista in college and learned not just to appreciate the impact of espresso, but came around to loving its taste, too (along with lattes, mochas, and a really good cappuccino).
Coffee in the morning and afternoon tea is now status quo. In the last 25 years, I’ve tried my fair share of coffee makers, grinders, tea steepers, and mugs (my gosh, the mugs!). So I feel pretty confident in saying that I’ve rounded up the very best gift ideas for coffee and tea enthusiasts this holiday season.
With a range of prices, from investment pieces to little luxuries, you’re guaranteed to find just the right gift for the coffee and/or tea lover on your holiday shopping list!

Tools for Coffee Enthusiasts
Breville Bambino Plus Espresso Machine ($500): After using a stovetop espresso maker for years, we finally invested in a quality at-home espresso machine. After reading a lot of reviews, we chose this model and it hasn’t disappointed us once. It pulls beautiful shots and steams like a pro. We use it daily to make americanos, lattes, and more.
OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder ($80): We prefer to brew beans at home, and quality grinder is a must. We’ve been through several, and this one, while pricey, will go the distance. It has fifteen grind settings, so it’s great for preparing beans a variety of drinks from espresso to cold press to french press. We love it!
OXO Cold Brew Coffee Maker ($52): cold brew has become increasingly popular and for good reason – it’s the very best way to enjoy iced coffee.
French Press: when we crave rich and robust coffee, we reach for our french press. It’s an incredibly easy option for making quality coffee, plus it’s portable! We always take ours on vacation. Bodum ($18) has always made terrific french presses at affordable prices. For a splurge, consider this insulated french press from Fellow ($99) – while pricier, it’s also an exceptionally good french press in terms of both form and function.
Our Favorite Coffee Mugs
Fellow brand Coffee Mugs ($25) and Espresso Cups ($35): we were turned onto the Fellow brand when my cousin served us espresso in them several years ago after Thanksgiving dinner. On the one hand, they feel wonderful in your hands – smooth and ergonomic, with a beautiful design. But they aren’t just pretty – the double walled ceramic keeps your coffee hot, but your hands warm.
Hydro Flask Coffee Mug ($31): if your coffee lover is always on the go, they’ll need a travel mug that keeps their brew hot and steamy. This one does just that, plus we LOVE that it has a handle and comes in a variety of colors.
Coffee Bean Connoisseurs
High Quality Beans: We are Counter Culture Coffee devotees and have enjoyed their beans for years. I remember ordering directly from their stores in North Carolina at least 15 years ago, so I’m thrilled they’ve become more mainstream (we now buy their coffee at Target!) while still maintaining the same quality. Consider a Counter Culture Multi-pack ($33). For a bit more variety from a high quality brand, try the Driftaway Coffee Explorer Box ($40).
Tools for Tea Enthusiasts
Cuisinart Electric Kettle ($85): an electric kettle is preferred by serious tea aficionados for its precision – the best tea is steep in not-quite-boiling-water, and that can be hard to gauge in a stovetop kettle. This model is elegant, very precise, and can withstand longterm daily use.
Bodum Assam Tea Press ($20): if your tea lover hasn’t yet tried loose leaf teas, this is an affordable and beautiful gift to get them started!
Classy Cups
Sweese Porcelein Tea Mug with Infuser ($19): yes, yes, I just raved about the Bodum team press, but I’m going to rave about this one too! I love everything about this beautiful mug – the capacity, the gorgeous colors, the lid that keeps tea warm if you step away, and the ergonomic handle.
Vintage-Style Glass Tea Cups with Saucers ($26): I just adore these glass tea cups. They make me feel like I’m going to afternoon high tea, even from the comfort of my couch with leggings on. They’re a perfect “here’s something lovely” type of gift, and come in a variety of colors.
Sophisticated Teas and Sweeteners
Very Fancy Tea: Fortnum and Mason Royal Blend Looseleaf British Tea ($35) has long been considered the very best black tea. I’ve tried it, and agree! For a bit more variety, try the Harney and Sons Tea Sampler ($28), or for a Chai lover, consider the The Chai Box All Chai’d Up ($17)
Fancy Honey: Herbal tea enthusiasts know that honey is a superior sweetener because of its delicate floral flavor. Ditch the mass-produced honey and gift something fun, like these Honey Spoons ($23), or nuanced, like this small-batch Orange Blossom Honey ($14) or small-batch honey variety pack ($30).
