Combine cranberries, honey or sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
Bring the liquid to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries fall apart. The mixture will be very thick.
Strain to remove the skin and large solids.
Combine vodka, cranberry syrup, and lime juice in a copper mug (or other cocktail glass).
Fill mug 2/3 of the way with crushed ice, then stir.
Top with ginger beer.
Add more crushed ice on top.
Garnish with mint, a lime wedge, and fresh cranberries for an extra festive touch.
