It’s Friday friends! That means it’s time for a #survivalcocktail. Aaaaaaages ago (or what feels like ages to me) I was in the second trimester of pregnancy and desperately craving a cocktail. So instead of indulging because I’m not that bad of a mother, I pinned a bunch of cocktail recipes that I knew I could try come fall, including this gorgeous Spiced Pear Gin Fizz from Jelly Toast.

To be honest, I completely forgot about those recipes I’d tucked away, but then…Cameron and I were in Crate and Barrel a few weeks ago and saw these stunning coupe glasses and I just had. to. have. them. I had absolutely no freaking idea what I’d do with them, other than place them on our little bar and admire the shit out of them. Then last week while I was reading Death and Co (my current mixology obsession), I saw their recipe for a classic Gin Fizz. The wheels starting turning and clicking, and BOOM – today’s survival cocktail came to life. Fair warning – to make a classic gin fizz you’re going to need to add a raw egg white. There is simply no way around it. This either (a) excites you or (b) squicks you out. If you’re in the latter camp, I swear it’s actually delicious, provided you shake the shit out it. Learn from my mistakes friends – shake it, and shake it long and hard. Happy weekend!
